Food delivery locker service Foodifox recently rolled out food delivery lockers in Melbourne. For this venture, it’s partnered with Chinese food delivery giant Hungry Panda.

Foodifox, created by thermal food locker specialists, stepped into the Australian market with a service that offers secure, temperature-controlled lockers to safeguard food deliveries. These lockers ensure food remains hot and secure during the delivery process.

They cater to customers residing in multi-residential apartments, bustling corporate offices, healthcare institutions, and educational facilities.

Hungry Panda, the Chinese food delivery company, has successfully implemented the same locker-method in Asian markets. They expect the trend to infiltrate the United States and Europe.

Melbourne’s new lockers

Melbourne now boasts a constellation of Foodifox lockers strategically placed for convenience. These lockers are installed in public and private spaces like apartment complexes, corporate offices, and healthcare institutions free of charge. Meanwhile, delivery partners are willing to foot the bill to access these customers.

The lockers are undergoing a trial run in four high-traffic student accommodation buildings managed by RoomingKos and 30 corporate hubs scattered across the city. These high-tech lockers boast ample space to accommodate a standard delivery bag while maintaining warm food for three hours.

Tim Pagram, chief strategy officer and co-founder of Foodifox, says, “We recognize that the hallmark of an exceptional food delivery experience is hot, fresh, and hassle-free service. Regrettably, logistical challenges often diminish the value of meal delivery. To ensure the final leg of the journey doesn’t become a stumbling block for anyone involved, we are committed to making food delivery convenient for both customers and delivery partners.”

Locker up

A recent Foodifox survey of 1,000 high-rise occupants in Australia found that 40% confessed to receiving cold or damaged food from delivery drivers, while an additional 53% noted substantial delivery delays.

Kelu Liu, CEO and founder of Hungry Panda says, “Our partnership with Foodifox is a cause for celebration. We’re thrilled to introduce the convenience of thermal food lockers to our cherished customers and dedicated delivery partners. This collaboration not only elevates the delivery experience, ensuring orders arrive fresh and secure, but it also streamlines operations for our devoted delivery riders.”

“As the global momentum behind smart lockers surges, particularly in the thriving Asian markets, we’re excited to spearhead innovation in Australia by collaborating with Foodifox. Adopting thermal food lockers marks a significant leap toward forging a seamless and dependable food delivery ecosystem for our customers, drivers, and restaurant partners,” Liu adds.

Foodifox’s state-of-the-art lockers promise to offer increased customer satisfaction when it comes to food delivery. Let’s see how they’re received.
