UPS Healthcare is on a mission to become the world’s number one complex healthcare logistics provider, launching its first facility in Ireland.
A $13 million investment for the facility includes nearly 20,000 square feet of space. It handles small packages, freight forwarding, logistics, and distribution with ease. It also supports cold chain and UPS Premier services for its healthcare customers.
Michael Lohan, CEO, IDA Ireland says: “With this investment, UPS Healthcare is showing its commitment to innovation and reinforcing Ireland’s reputation as a leading hub for excellence across the life sciences sector.”
Flight for trans-Atlantic shipping
Last year, the company added a new flight between the US, Ireland, and the UK to improve our trans-Atlantic shipping. This flight connects Dublin and Stansted Airports with UPS’s air hub in Louisville, KY, transporting healthcare shipments and other goods.
These countries have strong economic relationships and significant trade volumes. Goods moving between these nations include pharmaceuticals, technology products, and consumer goods.
Why does this matter? For healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, maintaining robust supply chains between these regions is critical. This ensures timely delivery of medical supplies, drugs, and vaccines.
The cold chain logistics capabilities in these countries are essential for transporting temperature-sensitive goods.
Other logistics providers such as Maersk Air Cargo have also been active in reaching the UK. The business recently applied for a UK operating licence

This includes refrigerated, frozen, and cryogenic shipping options.
It also provides specialized warehousing services tailored to the needs of the healthcare sector.
Expansion in logistics
Last month, UPS Healthcare unveiled a substantial expansion in Italy, incorporating two key locations – Passo Corese, near Rome, and Somaglia in Lodi.
