Walmart GoLocal is teaming up with logistics solutions company SmartKargo to expand next-to-two day delivery capabilities. Logistics today is all about saving time, getting products to customers faster. These two companies are racing to achieve just that.
SmartKargo works with airlines to enable quick delivery via airfreight. Its solution provides two-day and next-day small package transportation options that e-commerce companies and small package shippers can rely on. The company’s cloud-based platform is now integrated with Walmart GoLocal delivery solutions, enabling retailers to provide reliable, fast delivery of small packages to customers.
The retail giant’s delivery service Walmart GoLocal platform is designed to offer local delivery to its customers. The company’s senior director and head of sales Eliza Wendel says the partnership with SmartKargo to enhance customer experience. “Walmart GoLocal offers flexible, reliable local delivery solutions for retailers to help them meet and exceed customer expectations. With SmartKargo, we have an exciting opportunity to accelerate how retailers and e-commerce companies get inventory from their fulfillment centers to customers’ doorsteps and enable reliable next- and two-day delivery.”
SmartKargo gets in on speedy delivery
The company partners with US domestic airline to offer over 2,500 daily flights to move packages quickly. SmartKargo’s COO Prasanna Gogwekar told Supply Chain Dive: “Walmart GoLocal is a perfect fit for the value of our solution. We enable organizations to avoid building additional warehouse space and provide next- and two-day time and transit across the country through leveraging Walmart GoLocal’s local delivery solutions and retail and logistics expertise. Cloud computing shaping the future of logistics
In a report, shipping line Maersk says the development of cloud computing technology has created an interconnected, digital world that carries huge potential for logistics. “The benefits of cloud computing in logistics include offering a holistic view of the supply chain through detailed information and analytics. Supply chain management cloud software can improve decision-making and help companies anticipate and predict market changes and disruptions across their supply chain,” it reads.
Cloud Computing Magazine states the benefits of cloud-based logistics include enhancing data mobility, improved communications and allows transparency.
