Walmart is once again redefining convenience with a new service that blends prescription medications and everyday essentials into a single, streamlined delivery.
In its latest business move, the company is expanding its delivery options to meet customers at the crossroads of ease and accessibility.
Here’s what to expect from Walmart’s expanded Pharmacy Delivery service:
- Available now: The new service is live in six states—Arkansas, Missouri, New York, Nevada, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.
- Nationwide expansion: By January 2025, Pharmacy Delivery will reach 49 states, bringing streamlined access to tens of millions of customers.
- Prescription options: The service covers both new prescriptions and medication refills, ensuring convenience for all pharmacy needs.
Prescription delivery tops customer wish list
In a recent survey, Walmart asked customers how it could better meet their needs.
The top response? Over half (55%) said they wanted the convenience of having prescriptions delivered alongside groceries and other essentials—all in one simple online order. This streamlined service ranked as the most requested by time-sensitive, busy families who prioritize convenience.
Kevin Host, senior vice president of Pharmacy at Walmart says: “We understand that health care is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s hyper-local. Each community has unique needs. This new offering allows us to continue serving customers while also giving more time back to our pharmacies for high-touch health services.”
How does Walmart pharmacy delivery work?
With Walmart’s app integration, getting everything you need—including prescriptions—is now easy.
Customers can seamlessly add medications and other items from their local Walmart to a single order, available both in-app and online.
The experience is fully customizable, offering a range of delivery options designed to fit diverse needs and lifestyles, powered by innovative technology.
Customers get flexible delivery options
Walmart’s expanded delivery options bring flexibility and convenience, allowing customers to choose times that work best and apply their insurance with ease:
- Same-day scheduled delivery: Customers can choose a delivery time that works best for them.
- On-demand and express delivery: Coming soon, customers will have options for faster delivery—within hours or, with Express, in as little as 30 minutes.
- Insurance coverage: New or existing insurance plans will apply to delivery orders just like in-store pickups.
