Uber Direct and UK delivery platform Evermile have announced a partnership. It is hoped the venture will help businesses address customer expectations when it comes to express delivery.

Evermile has an existing partnership with over 400 businesses in the UK. It helps companies automate deliveries using artificial intelligence (AI). The platform was built by Omer Goldschmidt, Omry Hochberg and Ynon Cohen. The company was founded to help make local deliveries more cost-effective for small businesses. Before founding Evermile, Goldschmidt worked at Optibus.

Uber Direct helps customers meet customer demand. Businesses use Uber’s driver network to move goods to their customer’s door.

Tools to remain agile

Consumer demands are ever-changing. To stay ahead of the game, companies have to deliver faster to keep being the first choice of customers. The new partnership will assist Evermile customers such as wine shops, florists, butchers, and delis.

Evermile CEO Omer Goldschmidt says local businesses need tools to remain agile in the business world and to remain competitive. “Express delivery has evolved from being a luxury to a fundamental consumer expectation, however, many local businesses are still struggling with offering and managing these options,” he says,

Delivery market

The partnership will mean that UK merchants can offer fast delivery while still and still keep the uniqueness of their brand. “This partnership is more than just a collaboration; it’s a statement that local retailers can, and will, hold their own in this competitive market, says Goldschmidt. ”

Head of Uber Direct UK and Ireland Caroline Varga says the collaboration with Evermile will help businesses thrive in a competitive market. “Through Uber Direct, these businesses can maintain their brand identity, while expanding their delivery capabilities to offer customers a fast and reliable service,” she says.

Fast delivery

Uber continues to support fast delivery. The company recently partnered with Oracle to collect and receive parcels. This solution will allow retailers to give customers more choices when it comes to delivery. These are same-day delivery, scheduled delivery options, order pick, and returns to the closest retail or postal location.

The company’s service was officially started in 2010 using three cars. The same year, Uber received its first funding of $1.3 million led by First Round Capital. In 2015, the company launched its food delivery app, Uber Eats. In 2020 it acquired a competitor Postmates. In 2022, Uber launched UberX, which allows multiple customers to share a ride.  Today Uber operates in about 70 countries worldwide.
