The holiday travel season is officially upon us – it kicks off when the Christmas lights go up, of course. Uber’s festive features will make holiday travel a breeze, especially during what’s expected to be a record-breaking season.
From budget-friendly options to tools for better planning, the updates are designed to tackle the challenges of crowded airports, heavy luggage, and tight schedules.
Here’s what travelers can expect this season.
UberXXL for everyone (and their luggage)
Uber is rolling out UberXXL at more than 60 airports worldwide (including 40 in the US and Canada.) The service offers larger vehicles with extra trunk space.
This makes it easier to handle airport runs for travelers with heavy baggage or traveling in groups. So, no more dreading all those airport drop-offs and pick-ups.
As a bonus, Uber One members based in the US can get $20 back on qualifying UberXXL rides from now until December 1.
UberX Share: Airport rides made easy
UberX Share is also rolling out to airports. This feature offers travelers a budget-friendly way to get to and from their flights.
It’s currently available at several US airports – Austin (AUS), Denver (DEN), and Miami (MIA) – as well plus international hubs in Amsterdam (AMS) and Madrid (MAD).
Why it’s great: Affordable and convenient, with no stress of matching with multiple riders.
Uber Reserve for smarter travel
Planning ahead for the holiday rush? Uber Reserve has new features like Flight Capture. You input your flight details and Uber will recommend the best time to leave for a smooth arrival.
Flight tracking automatically updates your reservation if your flight is delayed. With Multiple stops, you can even reserve a ride with added stops.
It’s perfect if you need to pick up relatives, drop off gifts, or make a quick detour.

Uber’s iPhone widget
For iPhone users, Uber is making it easier than ever to request a ride.
The new Uber widget for iOS allows you to book a ride directly from your Home Screen in just two taps.
To get it, simply update your iOS and the Uber app to enjoy this new functionality. Sorry, Android folk. Maybe next time.
Happy holidays, and happy traveling!
