The forum, established in 1971, engages the “foremost political, business, cultural, and other leaders of society to shape global agendas.” It’s a not-for-profit foundation headquartered in Switzerland.

WEF strives to demonstrate entrepreneurship in the global public interest while upholding the highest standards of governance. “Moral and intellectual integrity is at the heart of everything it does,” it states on the official website.
The organizers say the goal of Davos 2024 is to “help connect the dots in an increasingly complex environment, and provide foresight by introducing the latest advances in science, industry, and society.”
Who is attending WEF 2024?
China’s vice premier Li Qiang, French president Emmanuel Macron, UK chancellor Jeremy Hunt and Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves are some of the confirmed attendees for this year’s event.
US secretary of state Antony Blinken will also be in in attendance, along with national security adviser Jake Sullivan, and special presidential envoy for climate, John Kerry. Israeli president Isaac Herzog and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy are scheduled to speak as well.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) managing director Kristalina Georgieva, World Bank president Ajay Banga, and World Trade Organization director-general Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will make appearances.
NATO’s Jens Stoltenberg, WHO’s Tedros Ghebreyesus, and United Nations’ António Guterres will represent civil society groups at WEF 2024.
