Cloud-based e-commerce shipping solutions company ShipStation and leading independent parcel carrier Yodel will partner for last-mile deliveries across the UK.

The collaboration will see Yodel join ShipStation’s platform which will allow merchants to select Yodel as a delivery service. This integration will allow small and medium enterprises to enhance their delivery experience and meet changing customer demands.

ShipStation’s web-based software is designed to help retailers easily process and ship their e-commerce orders. The company has offices in Europe, North America and Australia.

Technology meats shipping

ShipStation directly integrates with over 70 selling channels and partners with companies like Amazon, eBay, Walmart, UPS, and DHL. The business’s software allows e-commerce companies to keep track of their orders. The software provides various ways businesses can manage their orders. Tasks can be automated to streamline the order fulfillment process.

Founded in 2011, ShipStation has constantly moved forward and grown. Just two years after its inception, the company hired e-commerce entrepreneur Nathan Jones. The company operates under the Auctane brand.

Auctane’s vice-president for small-medium business, Matthew Trattles, says, “Yodel suits our needs perfectly, as they’re one of the most prominent carriers in the UK, known for their excellent customer service, comprehensive nationwide coverage and for providing great value to merchants. We look forward to working with them to provide existing and new merchants with more choice and convenience when it comes to domestic deliveries.”

Yodel offers customers flexibility

Each year Yodel delivers over 190 million parcels for many UK retailers and businesses.

Yodel’s sales director, Mike Antwoon, says the partnership will allow Yodel to provide clients easy access to its delivery service via ShipStation’s platform. “Our variety of services places us in a strong position to provide delivery options for businesses of all sizes. From standard deliveries to more specialized requirements, we provide greater flexibility and control when it comes to shipping. We’re excited to be working with ShipStation to serve the needs of their growing clients and create the best delivery experience for consumers,” he says.

Besides this new initiative, Yodel has a store-to-door service called Yodel Direct. This allows companies to deliver parcels to a customer’s door. A company books a parcel delivery online, and the package is delivered to the customer.

In September Yodel announced a partnership with geocode system What3words to allow customers to pinpoint their address with accuracy.

Meet the man at Yodel’s helm

Mike Hancox was appointed CEO in September 2019. He previously held leadership positions at e-commerce retailers such as Shopping Direct and Shop Direct. Under Handcox’s leadership, the company has won several awards. In 2022, Yodel won in the Freight Transport category at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport awards for innovation, including the Driver app, Customer app, and Solo tracking solution.
