UK parcel carrier Yodel is set to deliver 50 million more parcels annually for major Chinese logistics and e-commerce companies.
With a 230% yearly increase in international parcels, these new partnerships will boost Yodel’s international parcel volumes even further.
Cainiao, Shein, Temu, and TikTok are popular China-based e-commerce platforms. These companies have supply chains and run logistics hubs worldwide, serving over 200 countries.
Key e-commerce marketplaces in China
Mike Hancox, CEO of Yodel, says with Chinese e-commerce platforms rapidly rising in popularity, the volume of international parcels from China into Yodel’s network has significantly increased in the last year.
“The addition of new, direct partnerships with the key e-commerce marketplaces in China, coupled with the rapid expansion of parcel volumes from our existing Chinese client base is a testament to the recent investments made by the business to expand our presence not only in China, but internationally in coming months,” says Hancox.
Yodel delivers extra large items
In August, the UK parcel carrier Yodel launched XPect XXL to help accommodate shoppers who purchase heavier products.
The XXL service, joining Yodel Xpect’s Mini, Medium, Large, and XL options, handles parcels up to 275cm long and 32kg. Deliveries are available six days a week from 7am to 9pm, with next-day or two-day options.
Customers get a two-hour delivery window, full tracking with a driver map, inflight divert options, and notifications via email or the customer app.
UK e-commerce market
Mordor Intelligence reports the UK e-commerce market is expected to grow significantly in the coming years, driven by consumers’ preference for online shopping.
“The rise of online retailing adds to the never-ending pursuit of value for money. Online shoppers continue to look for the best prices and deals, increasing the proportion of money spent online. For shoppers looking for health, fashion and beauty, consumer electronics, travel services, and home and garden, the internet has become the natural place to look,” reads the report.
