Supply chain visibility just stepped up a gear, thanks to FedEx Surround®, a smart solution aimed at boosting logistics and supply chain management.
With peak season approaching, this tool will help businesses quickly identify and address potential issues, minimizing disruptions and enhancing overall efficiency.
This solution is now available in Singapore and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, with plans to expand soon to other Asia-Pacific markets like China, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, Korea, and Taiwan.
How does it work?
FedEx Surround® tools work seamlessly with the company’s existing transportation network, adding to its strong shipping and tracking services.
Customers can choose from three service levels —Select, Preferred, and Premium—tailored to meet the needs of various industries like healthcare, aerospace, and high-tech. These tools provide crucial updates and interventions to help ensure that sensitive shipments are delivered on time and in perfect condition.
FedEx helps enhance operational capabilities
Here are some key features of FedEx’s new tool:
- Flexibility and Control: The FedEx Surround® dashboard offers near real-time global visibility and predictive analytics, powered by AI and SenseAware ID, giving customers greater control over their shipments.
- Enhanced operational support: Special handling codes improve operational capabilities, allowing for prioritized boarding, cold chain support, and interventions both within and outside the FedEx network.
- Peace of mind: FedEx provides 24/7 expert support, with dedicated teams at hubs, ramps, and stations to monitor and intervene as needed, along with customized reporting to keep customers informed.
Real-time Intervention: A game-changer
The FedEx Surround® solution in Asia Pacific uses advanced sensor technology, including SenseAware ID, to continuously monitor shipments and make proactive interventions. FedEx has been a leader in sensor-based logistics, offering precise tracking for urgent and high-value shipments.
SenseAware ID is a small, lightweight sensor that sends package location data every two seconds via Bluetooth to WiFi access points or gateways in the FedEx network. This technology tracks packages hundreds of times, compared to the traditional method, which scans packages only a few times, providing much more real-time information about the shipment’s location.
Kawal Preet, president, Asia Pacific for FedEx says with data-backed intelligent solutions and the introduction of FedEx Surround®, the company is building smart logistics for customers.
“The tools are not just about tracking; it’s about smartly intervening in real-time to ensure that shipments are not only monitored but also actively managed to mitigate risk. This is a game-changer for businesses relying on just-in-time delivery and high-stakes shipments,” says Preet.
