Software companies Shipster and Odorite are on a mission to transform e-commerce and retail logistics for the furniture and soft furnishings sector.

Ordorite, headquartered in Galway, Ireland, offers a cloud-based order management system specifically designed for the furniture and bedding retail sector.

This platform streamlines operations by integrating customer relationship management, purchasing, delivery scheduling, and warehousing functionalities.

In a recent report, logistics giant DHL emphasized that despite cautious consumer spending because of rising prices, e-commerce remains strong, with an expected low to mid-single-digit growth in 2024.

Customize shipping rules

We are actively seeing companies adapt to the needs of their customers. In the US, last-mile delivery provider Veho is growing its reach by partnering with Clearjet for parcel deliveries. This initiative will allow Veho to meet the logistics needs of e-commerce retailers with West Coast distribution centers in the US.

It is expected that the partnership between Shipster and Ordorite will boost efficiency, profits and growth among furniture and soft furnishing retailers.

Based in Manchester, Shipster provides a tailored shipping integration platform that enhances the logistics chain for online retailers, e-commerce warehouses, and distributors. It facilitates seamless connections with over 100 top couriers, optimizing the distribution process and improving efficiency.

Shipster is renowned in the logistics sector for its exceptional capability to customize shipping rules at warehouse packing benches and through other specialized software integrations.

James Stockton, director for sales and partnerships at Shipster, says: “Retailers need a solution that is efficient, cost-effective and gets products out of the warehouse to customers seamlessly. Shipster and Ordorite are complementary solutions that can be leveraged together to produce a highly effective end-to-end pick-to-despatch system. It is a win-win-win for us and our customers.”

Robust solution for e-commerce

Since its inception in 2006, Ordorite has expanded its footprint to over 400 outlets across Ireland, the UK, the US, and Australia. Its client base varies from single-store retailers to those managing up to 55 physical locations alongside their e-commerce platforms. These businesses primarily deal in furniture, bedding, carpets, and interior decor products.

Stephen Connolly, Founder and Managing Director of Ordorite says: “Our collaboration offers stores and e-commerce businesses a robust solution that covers everything from packing and shipping to advanced analytics and customer segmentation. This not only promises to improve operational efficiencies and cost savings but will enhance customer experience, positioning retailers for success in a rapidly evolving retail environment.”

Global e-commerce market

Precedence Research reports the e-commerce market is expected to achieve excellent growth in the next eight years. “The e-commerce services hold the capacity to transform the global marketplace in profound ways. This virtual marketplace eliminates the constraints of physical distance and opens up new avenues for businesses to connect with consumers, making it an essential aspect of modern commerce,” reads the report.

The report adds that the rise of mobile devices and apps has extended the reach of e-commerce, enabling customers to shop on the move.
