The guide is a goldmine for those of us who leave gift-shopping until the last minute. Born from a survey highlighting 41% of shoppers’ struggle for gift ideas, the guide simplifies the task by leveraging the power of Google Search. 

Google’s top gift searches

This year’s ‘Holiday 100’ brings a refreshing twist, with products spanning home & garden, electronics, and even health & wellness. Search trends also show that shoppers are leaning towards sustainable choices.

‘Hands-free dog leashes’ is a hot item this year, with Google also noting a spike in searches for ‘Anorak jackets.’ Parents were on the hunt for ‘instant print cameras for kids,’ while others were looking for the quirky ‘human dog bed’ – a giant dog bed, but for humans… 

The strange trend was sparked by Noah Silverman, a fourth-year student at the University of British Columbia. While grinding at a campus coffee shop, he envied the owner’s dog, sleeping in a large custom-made dog bed. 

It sparked an idea in him – there was no reason humans couldn’t also enjoy the luxury of a comfy dog bed. 

Bargain hunting with Google Deals

Apart from sharing the top search trends, the Google guide also introduced a new way for consumers to snag the best deals. The guide has a ‘Shop Now’ button that redirects readers directly to the Deals page on the search engine. 

From there, consumers can compare the best prices based on their search history, location, and other account-specified search preferences.
