Bleckmann, a logistics expert for fashion and lifestyle brands, has unveiled two new sites in the UK. This expansion increases their operational space to over 2.8 million square feet (about 262,000 square meters). It’s been attributed to new clients and expansion of services.

The company will take over Superdry’s logistics operations at Burton on Trent on July 1, 2024. The warehouse is 542,000 square feet, and about 240 employees will join Bleckmann with this transition.

Efficient logistics 

Bleckmann offers a range of solutions, including freight forwarding, warehousing, e-commerce, and retail store delivery. 

In May 2024, Bleckmann added a new distribution center in Corby. This site provides 588,000 square feet of operational space. 

Located in central England, offering connectivity to the national transport network for efficient logistics. The building has a clear height of 194 feet (18 meters) and is BREEAM Excellent certified. Bleckmann expects to employ around 250 people at this location.

UK’s exciting e-commerce market 

Locate2u recently published a series of articles on Asendia’s latest market watch. Asendia offers a range of international e-commerce and mail delivery services. 

The company services fashion, apparel, health and beauty, marketplaces, and food and supplements. Key destinations for e-tailers include Asia, Europe, the USA, and Canada. 

The report highlights that many UK businesses have adopted hybrid working patterns, and people working from home are boosting e-commerce growth. As a result, online shopping rates in the UK are at 81.5%, well above the European average of 64% and the global average of 49%.

Key insights for the UK market in Asendia’s report: 

  • 94% of UK orders are successfully delivered on the first attempt.
  • 43% of online transactions are made by card. 
  • 88% of shoppers use PayPal.
