Royal Mail staff are jumping in to assist with deliveries ahead of Christmas.

Over 2,000 office-based staff will support postal delivery staff with their deliveries. This is being done to ensure customers receive their parcels in time for the big day.

Chief operating officer of Royal Mail Grant McPherson says: “We know how critical it is that we deliver for our customers this year and we are doing everything we can to make sure that this happens. Postmen and women up and down the country are working especially hard this festive period to deliver people’s Christmas shopping and cards, and it is right that the whole company gets behind them and supports them as much as possible.”

The company has seen a number of developments to make deliveries more convenient in 2023.

Royal Mail and TikTok on deliveries

Last month, TikTok Shop entered a new partnership with Royal Mail to assist merchants on its platform to have a better experience.

Now, merchants can integrate the Royal Mail’s ‘Click and Drop’ service with TikTok Shop. This will help merchants provide customers with a better delivery. The new initiative applies to merchants of all sizes. Sellers will also be able to view their TikTok Shop orders together with other sales channels in one place.

More choice with courier partnership

Last month, Royal Mail also broke with the traditional way of doing business.

UK postal customers can now choose other parcel carriers over the counter. This comes after research commissioned by the post office that shows 76% of the population sent parcels last year. But 40% admit sending parcels can be stressful. Almost half (48%) wish there were more delivery providers available to choose from at one location.

DPD and Evri will partner with the UK Post Office and Royal Mail Group. The buy-in-branch parcel service will begin in selected branches in time for the peak Christmas delivery season. Parcel carriers DPD and Evri have been chosen for this new service as they have the UK’s largest network.

Postal customers with special needs will be glad to know they can now register their needs via Parcel Collect.

Parcel lockers for deliveries UK

Courier giant UPS have expanded its Access Point locker network in the UK. The company have now partnered with smart locker providers and opened 400 new locations where deliveries can be made.

Now, customers can have packages sent to their nearest location when they are away. This gives customers convenience to collect their package from a locker any time.
